I'll reference a country song, "God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy!" I love the lyrics in my mind couldn't be said better, though I would change a few things. Like God is crazy beer is great, and people are good. Oh wait, is that the most un-PC thing I've said yet? Just wait, I'm sure my rants will not get any better. Let's diagnose my perspective. A couple of facts: I am not religious, I fear my type of person, and I know that I sure as hell don't know a whole hell of a lot about anything, especially God Religion and Our System!
So let's get into the inner voice: many of my closest friends are religious, and for me there has been a direct correlation to those that I can trust and their religious beliefs. Take it with a grain of salt, but "profiling" is fact finding at its best. Over my short tenure of life experiences, those that have a fear of God are generally better people than those that don't. What I mean by better people is that they put their relationships with their family first, their ideals for being the best is associated with the desire to win for winnings sake not win for the sake of others. What it comes to is religious people have morals a moral compass driven by some book that I have never read or some priest that I have never listened to. The fundamentals of proper religion are the ten commandments, which I can't recite. BUT, do unto others as you wish to be done unto you. Hence, the reason "religion" or spirituality is important to me, whether you have beliefs in karma, Buddha, hell even the devil, I don't give a shit, as long as you are honest about it, and have that fear of something other than the law.
The law represents a bull shit version of the ten commandments, except I wish both included eye for an eye. The law for people with money means nothing. Simply look at the way our system works. There are documentary's of wealthy individuals getting away with cold blooded murder. This because our system promotes the idea that one innocent person in the system is worth 1000's of guilty on the streets. While I agree with that, why it is that the 1000's are always the rich? Don't get me wrong, I am one hell of an advocate of capitalism. If you make a shit load of money you should be able to buy the best protection possible, lawyers, doctors, etc. however, it's the lack of fear of God in our system that is creating a lawless system. Even the poor knowing they will be convicted, if caught, weigh their options and commit terrible crimes because currently the punishment doesn't equal the disobedience of the law. Eye for an Eye could fix this issue, or stop taking God out of society, preferably the latter!
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, one nation under GOD for liberty and justice for all!"
This, my friends, was from memory, and the fact that our children no longer say this every single morning is a major problem. I don't give a shit what "god" you like, or dislike, believe or don't believe. Our forefathers created our system based on the Christian way of life, and guess what, that way of living is pretty effin' sweet. No, I don't think the church should be in control that would be a monarchy.
I heard it quoted "a Christians morality is a straight line to God" so if a person has no form of God where does their moral compass point?
Long story short, don't blame religion for issues, don't blame God, blame the godless with a moral compass that doesn't work.
