Yes, I had to look up how to spell epiphany, but that's OK because I had one!
Playing basketball last night I couldn't hit a shot, literally missed 19 of 20 (keep in mind my baseline is probably 50%), I was hitting rim every time, don't believe I had changed anything, what was I doing? So to get rid of all distractions I said to myself, I am going to shoot a 3 point shot, and not even try to make it just make sure that my shot "felt" good, that it was a "quality" shot. Expecting an air ball, I let it loose, SWISH! HA! I thought how funny, I grab the ball again think I want a good quality shot that feels good who cares if I make it, SWISH! Statistics would prove this could be an anomaly, so I continued, 19 of 20 made and WAY out of my range. What I learned is that if you create the foundation for success, success happens, make the small things matter; pay attention to the fundamentals of what ever it is you are trying to accomplish, and the rest will just fall into place ... SWISH!
I have been working on this throughout the day today working on the foundation of things, like a sales call, for instance, instead of worrying about getting the sale, worry about building the relationship, build rapport understand needs and the sale will fall into place. Fundamentals my dear Watson!
